Jurgen Van Den Broeck’s (catchy-sounding) Canyon Ultimate CF SLX is no ordinary Ultimate CF SLX.

Look at it! But what at first glance may look like a garish white and blue-green paint job in fact reveals itself to be something quite beautiful up close.

King Neptune holds his trident aloft among torrents of swirling water on this custom-painted bike, beautifully created by German frame manufacturer Canyon’s art department.

But what’s with the liquid theme on Van Den Broeck’s water-cycle? Apart from the fact that the sea-green colour scheme matches his Omega Pharma-Lotto team kit, it was one of the team’s mechanics at the Tour de France who had to provide us with the answer: Van Den Broeck is an Aquarius.

Components-wise, the Belgian turns the volume up to 11 with Campagnolo’s excellent Super Record groupset, driven by Look’s range-topping Kéo Blade pedals, which drive Mavic Cosmic wheels shod with Continental Competition tubs.

Up in the cockpit, Van Den Broeck plumps for Ritchey Logic WCS Classic bars and a white Ritchey 4-Axis stem, while a matching white Ritchey WCS 1-Bolt seatpost and a Selle Italia SLR Gel Flow Team Edition saddle — no carbon rails for Jurgen here — keep him sitting pretty atop what is one very tasty-looking bike.

If you look closely at the 3rd pic, I actually think he’s riding the Aluminum model as you can see the welds on the headtube. Gilbert rode that model for quite a while till the Aero came out due to needing a more stretched out position than the CF allows.
